• Developing blastocyst implants anywhere other than endometrial lining of the upper 2/3 of the endometrial cavity
  • Hyperechoic peritoneal fluid isn’t specific for ruptured ectopic in literature (there can be other sources of bleeding even if ectopic is present), however important to report as it may determine if patient taken for surgery or not
  • If there is hemoperitoneum, ask sonographer to take images of upper quadrants (ie. Morison’s pouch) to see how much hemoperitoneum there is
  • Interstitial ectopic high risk for rupture
